Join us at our Let’s Go Green event, learn more about local sustainability initiatives and get rewarded for visiting us car-free!  

On Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th September between 11am & 4pm all visitors are welcome on Central Boulevard as we host our Let’s go Green event! Free to attend with various activities to get involved in and interact with!

Saturday 10th September 

Brightwayz – Paving the way to active travel!
Meet Alison Holland from Brightwayz and learn more about how she is working with Rushden Lakes to improve Green Travel choices for both visitors and staff! Alison would love to meet you and hear your feedback. Brightwayz provides the products, services, solutions and information resources to support active travel plans and initiatives.

The Wildlife Trust BCN – Making your local area wilder and making nature part of life, for everyone.
Meet the team from The Wildlife Trust BCN and learn all about the amazing and important work they do to protect nature and our local environment. Feel free to ask any questions and give any feedback. Your support is appreciated as they are an Independent charity. They will also be running drop in craft activities for children at the Nene Wetlands Visitor centre, free to attend and everyone welcome!

Food For Thought – More joy less waste!
Food for Thought is a refill shop where you bring your containers, fill up with food, self-care & cleaning products. Get the amount you need and cut needless plastic packaging! The team are joining us to showcase and demonstrate how it all works and how easy it is to use refill services! Learn more about food for thought here.

Nenescape – Connecting the Nene Valley.
Lucy from Nenescape will be here to showcase the Greenway and answer any questions you may have around safe walking & cycling routes. The Greenway is being developed in phases, some of which are already completed and others will follow within the next few years. The Greenway Vision map illustrates how it looks now and how it might look in the future.

Wings and Radicles – Bee-lieve in a better future!
Rachel is passionate about all things Beekeeping! As well as workshops, she also uses beekeeping as a tool to positively impact mental health. Pop by, say hello and check out the range of handmade merchandise, created using their beeswax and other hive by-products. When you buy from their collection you’re helping to fund beekeeping projects, engage a new generation of beekeepers and contributing toward their goals of increasing the bee population. Your chance to view the new Volvo C40 & Kia Niro which will be positioned on Central Boulevard

Paradise Island Adventure Golf – Visit them at the Pink shed!
The team will be hosting a ‘guess how many balls’ competition for your chance to win a round of golf for 4 people! All donations will go to the wonderful Brook Farm Animal Sanctuary.

MEET WILDESTRA!

Our fabulous wildlife character roaming Rushden Lakes will be here on Saturday! When it comes to planting and growing flowers, Wildestra’s your woman – snap a photo with her to receive flower seeds to make your garden as beautiful as her!

Bike repairs by Wesley – FREE!
In partnership with Brightwayz we are offering a FREE cycle repair service. Bring your bike to Rushden Lakes for free service and repairs by our qualified cycle mechanic. Service includes free basic repairs and equipment such as brake cables. It does not cover the cost or repairs for major or unusual parts, however recommendations can be made. No need to book, just turn up and stay with your bike while we take a look!


Wagamama – FREE food tasting
Wagamama will be joining us with their food cart to offer visitors an opportunity to taste their food for free! They will also be on hand to talk about their brand new  recyclable packaging which replaces up to 330 tonnes of virgin plastic every year.

Tissy Treats – Delicious baked goods
Visit Tissy Treats for AMAZING brownies, blondies, cookies and much more! All made and baked locally.

Wax and Melt
Visit Sue, the owner of Wax and Melt. Handmade in Wollaston, Wax and melt hand pour a vast range of high quality, hand poured wax melts and associated products.

USE YOUR PEDAL POWER FOR A FREE SMOOTHIE!

Hosted by our Comedy Commentators, visitors can step up to the bike and cycle as fast as they can to power the blender and make themselves a delicious (vegan and low allergen) smoothie to take away for free! Our commentators will be leading the sporty banter about the cyclists and promote that travelling by 2 wheels is the way to go!

How do I get rewarded for travelling car-free?

Every visitor who travels to Rushden Lakes car-free can claim an instant reward for giving it a go! Car-free really does mean that: if you have walked, wheeled, cycled, scooted or come by public transport, you can claim your reward. We will be giving every visitor, who travelled car free on the event days, a token to use at Magazine Heaven or Patisserie Valerie which enables them to a x1 free hot or cold drink. (Must be claimed on 10th & 11th September)
