The best way to spend a birthday? Shopping with friends of course!
I grew up in Northampton, but I’m now based near Cambridge. I wanted somewhere to meet up with one of my pals for a spot of shopping, a birthday bite to eat and a good old natter! Rushden Lakes was the perfect place.
The drive over from Cambridge on a sunny Wednesday morning was super easy and Rushden Lakes was a doddle to find. There were tons of free spaces, so parking was no problem. All good thus far! I parked up and went to find my pal, Kate.
Our first stop was Primark. We were like excited teenagers as we shopped. Picking out pieces for each other and nattering non-stop! It was fabulous! I already had my eye on a rainbow jumper, perfect for the new season and guaranteed to brighten up any outfit. In my basket it went! I also picked up some basic tops because a girl can never have too many. They’re great for layering in the colder months too. After what seemed like hours we left the store our stomachs rumbling….it was time for lunch!
We headed over to Bill’s and nabbed a table outside overlooking the lake. As it was my birthday, I decided that a glass of fizz was most definitely in order! I settled on a “Hedgerow Fizz”, which was suitably celebratory and absolutely delicious! The two-course lunch menu was only £11.95 (which we thought was really reasonable) so I opted for the minute steak and my fav pudding, Eton Mess. What a treat! The food was excellent, and the service was great. A big thumbs up from us!
I still had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket which I was determined to spend. There was only one place to spend it….M.A.C! We trotted over to House of Fraser and made our way over to the M.A.C. counter. I was like a kid in a sweet shop! After much chat and deliberating I decided to buy a new lipstick in a gorgeous tomato-red shade, a lip primer (which I was told was a must if you favour a dark matte lip) and the cult beauty favourite, Fix Plus setting spray. Birthday money well spent!
And just like that it was time to go. We had a super time at Rushden Lakes. It was such an easy shopping experience with a great range of stores, loads of parking and some excellent eateries. Birthday shopping, a birthday lunch and spending quality time with an old pal. What a way to celebrate!
Same time next year?
